Makeing Tents is an experimental songwriting project from San Francisco.

Makeing Tents is the pen name of songwriter and activist Jean Yaste. She describes her music as "electro wilderness" and "pastel survivalism." In it, she explores both introspective and political themes ranging from cosmic dramas to Acconci-an post-humanist housing concepts. Musically, she is informed by her Cincinnati garage past and contemporary San Francisco bedroom jams.

She prefers to put it all together with fellow musicians rather than go it alone, often allowing for a great deal of creative freedom and re-interpretation of her own material. The name Makeing Tents describes a communal banding together to create temporary, ramshackle (intentionally mis-spelled) soul-shelters.

Makeing tents sometimes performs with Jason Grier as "Clouds." Jean Yaste is currently Human Ear's managing director and co-executive director.
